So.....

Shoutout's to the "homey" Homeboy Sandman. Not long ago was it that he was hitting up the NYC scene tearing down EVERYTHING, including my own open mic that I cohosted along with my homey Definition. I'd be lying if I said I thought Boy Sand didn't forget about the boy Soon. Recently he's proved me wrong twice within the last week!

On November 24th, I was one of the Spotlight artists at Work As Renaissance (W.A.R.) hosted by my homey Jamica at La Pregunta Arts Cafe in Harlem. While enroot, I received the most random text; to the point where I thought it was an accident! It was Boy Sand asking me when was I expecting to take the stage, to which I replied I wasn't sure. His response; "Stall." Sure enough he made it just in time to see me rock out.

This past Sunday, I did a song at an event hosted by Fresh Daily, which doubled as a goodbye to an insane R&B singer by the name of Denim, who is moving to Cali to pursuit her singing career. As a result of my *Clark Kent, I have gotten to know and adore Denim quickly. Seeing as how Boy Sand is a genuine fan of the art, not to mention that he and Fresh Daily are both part of the AOK Collective, it wasn't surprising to see him at the show despite the fact that he wasn't on the bill. What was surprising was hearing him say "Shoutout to SoSoon" while he was on stage preparing to perform alongside Fresh Daily.

Here's my point: I'd be lying if I said that the respect of my peers wasn't important to me. Homeboy Sandman has worked his ass off, and as a result has made a bunch of great strides as an emcee in this cluster fuck of New York rappers. To see these small but relevant signs of respect coming from someone who I have mutual respect for means the world, and I appreciate that a lot.
