A good friend of mine sent this to me and I thought, people are quick to mention some sillyness they saw on Twitter or Facebook, but not as quick to point out a dope concept. SO, after another lloonnnnngggggg hiatus of not posting to my site, I'm going to take the opportunity to promote this gentleman and his efforts. Shout's to Dee-! and his "Jay, 50 & Weezy" video.
Some of you know me, and some of you don't. My name is Timothy Prolific Jones, and I am the gentleman bestowed with the privilege and honor of managing SoSoon. We have shared a long, powerful 9 years together as group members, activists, performers, and brothers. In 2001, we co-founded a group called The Cataclysm, along with The MarXman, K-Mil, and Darkside (who is getting married this weekend).
Last week, I dusted off my fatigue on my day off from work, and took the LIRR (Strong Isle, stand up) into Manhattan to support Soon's performance at Hunter College. This particular gig was special to both of us, as our performance careers really began at Hunter. Soon has performed at there for over 9 years straight, and literally has Hunter College tatooed on his arm. While he has performed at Hunter for nearly a decade, he never took the stage at an alumnai function. The rooftop gathering was filled with some familiar faces, but mostly new ones. Being management, I flyered every soul on that rooftop, and enjoyed the food and liquor.
Enough talking. The video clips below explain why this show was so important, and give you a small taste of the live Soon experience. I just wish it wasn't so dark when he performed Blowing Money, took his shoe off, placed it on the table, and smacked it on the ground.
I don't want to say too much. I just want you to watch.......
SHOUT OUT TO TOP DOLLA RAZ for the Dead video, the latest single off of his debut album Spilled Milk. A Far Rockaway, QUEENS representative who's been donig the damn thing on the NY scene. It feels good seeing my homies do their thing, and I regret that I couldn't make the video shoot, as I was at a real funeral.
After checking my iphone a few days ago and discovering the brilliant job Facebook did of updating their iphone application, I came across a friend request from an old homey from elementary school. The conversation that followed prompted me to go on a "manhunt" of the sorts to search for as many friends from elementary school as possible. 30 plus peoples later, I must say it feels good to reconnect with my homies and home-ettes!!!!
A few days after my manhunt, I was at work, still feeling quite nostalgic. A conversation with another co worker made me think of this OLD joint from back in the day. Here's where you show your age!!! If you remember this then DAMN YOU OLD!!! (What does it say about me?!?!?)
